Aidan & Donnie ~ November 2019

Last August at the GON Outdoor Blast, Kilgore’s Kids had the pleasure of meeting Aidan and his dad, Donnie. You have no idea how meeting certain people can effect your life until time progesses a little. What we could not imagine at the time is just how much meeting Aidan would impact our lives.

Over the next several months we remained in contact with Aidan and Donnie. David began working on a shooting bench and trigger that would enable Aidan to deer hunt with his dad. It was an amazing experience for all of us. Below is Donnie’s account of the whole experience.

“Where do I began? This weekend was a dream come true for this Dad! Back in August we met a guy named David Kilgore of Kilgore kids at the outdoor blast he waved us over and we talked for a good while. He asked Aidan if he liked to deer hunt and fish? Aidan said yes sir. He asked me about Aidan and I told him about Aidan and Ella Grace being born at 25 weeks and the Dr telling us they wouldn’t make it through the night well they did and at 3 days old the Dr wanted us to let Aidan go. We prayed with all that we had knew that God have given us these babies for a reason and I told the Dr I can’t make that decision right now. So we continued to pray and pray hard. I told God to let Aidan stay and take me instead if that was his will. A week went by and after church one Sunday, Kendra Waters Proctor, my wife said let’s skip lunch and go straight to the hospital I said ok. Not knowing what to except we walked in and Kendra opened Aidan’s little bed and put her hand on Aidan and said mama loves you, Aidan opened his eyes and grabbed her finger to let us know God had him and he was going to be alright. I turned to the Dr and said there is my answer! DO everything you can... We WILL take him home with us. Well 5 long months later we brought him home after several surgeries and spending time between two hospitals. Aidan has CP and can’t walk without a walker or adult assistance or use his left hand very well. Since August Mr Kilgore has kept in touch with us and told us everything Kilgore kids was doing to make this hunt possible for Aidan. Mr Kilgore made Aidan a shooting table just for him , got the plunger for the gun so Aidan could shoot by himself and the adapter for the scope so Aidan could see the crosshairs. Mr. Kilgore called us last week and said everything is ready for Aidan’s hunt and asked if we could be there this weekend? I said yes we can and we took off yesterday and you can see the results in the pictures...Aidan got an 11 pointer and 2 does. Without Kilgore’s Kids and Mr Kilgore none of this would have been possible. I would like to say thank you again to Mr Kilgore, Brian, Andy and Mrs Kilgore for all y’all did for Aidan and Ella Grace this weekend.

My Heart is full.” ~ Donnie P., Aidan's dad.
