A special hunt with Reece.

❤️ “ When our oldest son, Reece (12yrs old), was born, we learned that his eyes had not fully developed during utero. He was diagnosed with bilateral microphthalmia and he would be blind. So many things that we had planned for his future had instantly changed. But we also learned so much from him and began to see the world through a different set of lenses. The perspectives that we have gained throughout the years has been nothing short of beautifully miraculous. Growing up, Reece loved to be a part of anything that anyone else was doing. Whether that was music, sports, or just being everyone else’s cheerleader and encouragement. He had the opportunity to play for a buddy baseball league that was coached by Donnie Proctor for a couple seasons. Reece had made friends with Donnie’s son, Aiden and they have really enjoyed each other’s company. It was through Coach Donnie that we learned of Kilgores Kids. Coach Donnie had told us of Aiden’s big hunt with Kilgore Kids and how Mr. David Kilgore has made it to where Aiden could independently shoot during his hunt to fully enjoy the experience. When we were connected to David Kilgore and extended the invitation for Reece to attend a hunt, we had no idea what was about to unfold. On the day of the hunt, our whole family was welcomed with open arms by David and his wife Sandra. We quickly learned how this was much bigger than Reece just attending a hunt. His younger siblings were able to enjoy themselves as well as watch Reece learn the setup that David had created for him to aim and shoot independently. The joy on Reece’s face as he navigated the joystick to aim and push the button to shoot was priceless. Later that evening, Reece successfully shot and killed his first ever deer. He was beyond excited and filled with such confidence and fulfillment that he was able to provide food for our family just like his dad. Words can’t describe what this experience was for Reece and our family and the beginning of an even larger self confidence for Reece. Thank You Kilgore Kids!!! “ Michael and Lesli Wright and family.
